SHP Delivery

This was a Sleep in Heavenly Peace delivery day for the St. Luke Lutheran Church in Mesa, AZ. There were 25 volunteers delivering 33 beds to kids who were sleeping on the floor, but now they will have their own bed. The beds are in modular form, built in a central facility in Phoenix then assembled by the delivery team in the recipient’s home. You can see headboards and footboards in the truck in the photo below.

It was hot outside, 102° F, but this didn’t stop the delivery. Here volunteers were divided up into teams and given addresses for delivery. The recipients have been on a waiting list for months, a situation where supply just can’t keep up with demand. The Phoenix chapter has delivered 10,000 beds over the years with a waiting list of 4,500 more. SHP is doing their best to remedy that situation.

Everything needed for a bed is supplied free of charge: frame, mattress, bedding, pillows, a stuffed toy for the child, and delivery and setup.
